Here the D2x and the "Andrew R" custom curve uploaded into the D2x's memory produced a splendid exposure using the 400mm f/3.5 AiS lens. I lightened the shadows up a bit, but this is very, very close to how the image appeared right off the card. In good light, this custom curve does very, very well, particularly at lower ISO's of 320,250,200,and lower. Keep in mind when looking at the EXIF data that Andrew's curve has a baseline of Minus 1.3 stops, so this photograph's EXIF information of Minus 2.0 stops really is a _two-thirds_ stop exposure compensation factor designed to absolutely insure highlight protection, and to build shutter speed. I'm often guilty of favoring higher-than-expected shutter speeds for baseball. Note that even at 1/2500 second, his knuckles still show a slight twinge of motion blurring.
