DSC_5562_3000MeterSpits.JPG

This was shot from off to the side of the track using the manual focus 400mm f/3.5 Nikkor on a monopod. The 3,000 meters is a gruelling race. Here, the leader takes a second to clear her throat...with a nice, big hocking spit! To me, this is a "reality" sports shot. I like the shot, but a lot of people don't seem to appreciate it.

Thanks Scotty. The 400/3.5 ED-IF is a VERY easy-to-use big lens. It focuses quite well, even for track and field, and is really a great-handling lens on a monopod. For field sports, its 7 pound weight and excellent performance wide open make a good copy of this lens still useful today.

Wonderful in-action shot. I just purchased this lens to use on my D200.
