Oh, the early 1990's had some funky hairstyles, didn't they? This style was the height of fashion when I made this photo in May of 1992.This hair style used a very, very dark silk scarf fitted into the hair, with only a bit of the scarf showing through above the ear. I shot this on very contrasty Kodacolor Gold 200 color negative film. This image is from is a scan made by a Minolta desktop film scanner. This photo was lit by a roughly 45 inch umbrella camera right, with my white-painted steel under-chin reflector angled toward my subject. I shot this at a free makeover promo event a local hair salon was holding, in a very, very cramped shooting area in a high school gymnasium. I used a roll of black seamless paper onto which I directed a flash head with an 11.5 inch reflector fitted with a red gel. This image is my MOST popular photo on most days,by actual view counts.
