The weather forecast for today was highs into the low 90 degree range, so in the morning Jill decided that while it was still cool that we should take the baby out on the deck so he could get some fresh air. While out there, we noticed that Spencer's hospital umbilical cord clamp had fallen off, thus revealing for the first time his very own belly button! Jill went inside the house and got some Q-tips and clean, distilled water and then swabbed and cleaned the area. This is a photo I made just a few seconds after Jill finished tending to him. He seemed to be enjoying the absolutely lovely June weather. Later in the day we all went to Target to buy additional baby bottles and small towels, had a hot dog and a soda, and commemorated his first-ever store visit with a couple of CoolPix snaps, and then we drove just a few blocks to take Spencer to his two-week pediatric checkup, where he was weighed at 8 pounds 8 ounces, and measured at 20.75 inches long.
