Palm UP, line over top of palm; then, rotate reel three times, creating six total wraps around the entire blank--three wraps in front of the hand, three wraps behind the hand; the fingers cushion the line, as the angler walks backwards, rod aimed at the snagged lure, slowly backing up, and straightening out the hooks on a snagged lure. This prevents a broken fishing rod, and extracts the maximum strength out of the line, with a slow steady pull. Here she is backing up, increasing tension on the stuck lure.
