DSC_3301.JPG 50-135 wM2>small

This is a close-up detail shot of a Nikon FM,done with SB-28DX and bounced flash using the 50-135mm f/3.5 Zoom-Nikkor lens, which is one of my favorite AiS one-ring zooms. It was never a popular lens, but it is VERY handy on a 1.5x FOV body since it becomes a roughly 77-212mm constant-aperture zoom lens that handles very well,is solidly-made,and available for around $200-$250 when it just happens to be sold off. It resolves detail pretty well, right down to the dust in this quick shot. If there is a zoom range Nikon NEEDS to bring back, this is IMHO, absolutely it--the perfect mix of speed and focal length with weight and size for a 1.5x FOV camera like a D1, D100,S1,or S2.
