DSCF5794_Rain Shower.JPG

cloudy-overcast

I wanted to capture the feeling of rain in this photo.I think I captured the feeling of rain pretty well in this shot. I gave this photo a very, very slight 'S-curve' tweak in Photoshop, and I applied some Unsharp Masking. Using a slow shutter speed of 1/90 second and a 200mm focal length allowed me to convey a sense of motion to the rain drops, to better portray the feeling of a rain shower. There is NO flash being used here, merely positioning sky-lighted foliage in front of backlighted, taller foliage. This is slightly against the light,so the nearer,sky-lighted rose petals and the raindrops stand out in front of a darker background. No flash was used. Rain showers interspersed with sunny periods (look at the top-most parts of the leaves and see that they are burned out!) help make these types of shots possible.
