Thanks to adam for the detective work so far:-

John Holmes is a native of Northern Tasmania and having already built fishing boats, harvesters and kit planes has now turned his engineering skills to scratch-building a P51 Mustang. The P51 plane was started in 1997 from Marcel Jurca MJ77 plans, a jig was made for the fuselage and piping cut and welded etc to make the fuselage frame which took 300 hrs alone , over the next two years the main wing spar was laminated all ribs fabricated and most of main wing was made up including the control surfaces but not yet covered , vertical stabiliser, rudder plus tail plane and elevator were fabricated and a mould was made to form the fibreglass radiator air scoop.

All work was stopped in 1998 for about 7 years, during this time three complete poppy harvesters were built, plus headers and bin trailers for three tractor harvesters, another light aircraft the Zenair 801 4 seater STOL plane was built from a kit plus various other projects including a big fifth wheel caravan trailer.

Work started again in around 2006, fuel tanks were made, wing was covered, folding undercarriage designed and fabricated, radiator fabricated etc.

Pictures since then have been supplied by my cousin Phil Reeves
