After descending Ben Macdui I took this image from the high plateau looking back at the mountain. It was at this spot in 1971 where a terrible tragedy occurred and six young people died in a blizzard during a planned walk with an instructor. This is a hostile and unforgiving environment and must be given the utmost respect. Even in the height of "summer" snow still lies on this hill.
