red

Loch Muick

for some time now I have been trying to catch a red deer in a natural surrounding (at this point bear in mind today I had my 16-35mm lens only), however walking with the dog always makes wildlife photography difficult. Today Meg was on the lead for our challenging walk to the summit of Lochnagar (a pretty serious walk in my opinion). We happened around a corner and I had the camera at hand and quicker than you could say.."oh sh*t Meg there is a red deer right there, quick get the camera sorted, open up the lens quick (Meg just stood)...quick get it together cause once it senses you (we were downwind) it will be off....Meg don't you dare bark (Meg just stood)....aim focus ah it sees me....fire. Job done, deer now probably in Caithness - photo on PAD.

Fantastic composition for having to shot so quickly. What a good dog Meg was being still. Amazing looking deer.

Great capture, especially at 35mm.
