Carn na Drochaide

Linn of Quoich

Looking North into the Cairngorms from the summit of the Corbett Carn na Drochaide. A great walk which had a very dramatic conclusion. A badly injured, and very young red deer, was in our path - it was fairly clear that there was serious injury (pretty sure a broken back due to a tumble). We called the RSPCA who set of to meet us on a one and half hours journey....we stayed with the fawn and after one hour it died. I estimate that the fawn would have been around one week old, we headed back to the car silent and saddened. Nature is tough and I know it, but still an emotional experience.

Aye it's a tough life all right, especially out in the wilds...I sympathise entirely with your thoughts, it's sometimes difficult to accept what nature has in store
