The Sea Wolf

Culross, Fife

This statue of Admiral Lord Thomas Cochrane stands in his home village of Culross.
Cochrane was dubbed 'The Sea Wolf' by Napoleon after leading a series of attacks
on French and Spanish ports during the Napoleonic Wars.
He later commanded the Chilean navy during the quest for independence from Spain,
hence the Chilean flag seen in the background of the picture.
The adventures of Horatio Hornblower are said to be based on his exploits.
