I scanned this badly damaged plate of Confederate General Robert E Lee
several weeks ago (from Alistair Cooke's 'America' book) with the
intention of restoring and hand colouring it in Photoshop Elements.
After several hours I realised that my cleaned up version had
lost much of the 'grittiness' of the original so I gave up.
Thought I would use it today as the American Civil War ended on this day in 1865.
