Got some puzzled looks from passers-by as I was taking this photograph.
They were presumably unaware of the fact that this was the birthplace of
Harold Mahony, the only other Scots born tennis player to win Wimbledon
(in 1896) prior to Andy Murray's success earlier this year.
Unfortunately he wasn't so good at cycling. He was killed after falling
from his bike descending a steep hill in 1905.
(Or to quote Wikipedia ~ 'Retired 1905 due to death!')
