'Jungle Girl’ films at Edwards
Edwards Air Force Base in California’s Mojave Desert is far from any jungle, but the lack of water didn’t dissuade “Jungle Girl” Bindi Irwin from visiting the base Sept. 6 to film scenes for an episode of her show “Bindi the Jungle Girl” on Discovery Kids, a cable TV network.
Bindi is best known as the 9-year-old daughter of the late Steve Irwin, TV’s “Crocodile Hunter” before his death last year.
While at Edwards, Bindi, with her mother Terri in tow, saw flight line operations and visited the Rogers Dry Lake Bed. There is no word yet when the Edwards episode will air.
This was not Bindi’s first visit to an Air Force base. She accompanied her dad on several visits to Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., where Steve Irwin chased down alligators and snakes in the base’s vast wetlands and declared his favorite Air Force plane to be the A-10 Warthog.
