STEVE the bush kangaroo has a mighty name to live up to.
His life was saved when he was freed from his dead mother's pouch on the roadside on September 4, last year.
``He was saved the day Steve Irwin died, so he was named Steve,'' wildlife carer Bill Fulton said.
``Two girls had stopped and found him in the pouch. They brought him to us and they called him Steve.
``He's no trouble at all. He and the other little one are well bonded. You can't part them.''
Steve is the odd roo out at Mr Fulton and his wife Pam's Lorne home.
He is the only one who has a name, while his friends go by Kanga 1, Kanga 2 and Kanga 3.
The Fultons take injured and orphaned animals into their care, nursing them back to health and preparing them for release into the wild.
Used to caring for koalas, wallabies and even penguins, they are only looking after kangaroos temporarily.
Although they are free to come and go, the four kangaroos can still be a handful
