BINDI Irwin stars with late Steve Irwin in new TV show
Bindi Irwin stars with her late dad Steve in a new TV show.
BINDI Irwin's new TV series will feature scenes with her dad, Steve, who died in a freak stingray attack last year.
Terri Irwin hopes her daughter Bindi will ``infiltrate the world'' with her new conservation-themed television series in which she stars.
The new series, Bindi: The Jungle Girl, was today launched by the pint-sized star from her tree house at the family's Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
The 26 episodes star the eight-year-old, her mother Terri, Steve Irwin's best friend Wes Mannion, Bindi's dance troupe The Crocmen, and Steve himself, who had begun filming sequences for the show before his death.
Bindi said she wanted to continue her father's work and teach children around the world about the importance of all wildlife, from koalas to crocodiles.
The series is set in Bindi's jungle tree house, from where she takes the audience to all corners of the world to meet different animals.
``I'm proud to be showing kids that conservation and helping wildlife is a stack of fun,'' she said today.
``It's just the most amazing thing that we could ever do.''
Terri Irwin said Steve would continue to appear in the show thanks to ``miles and miles'' of footage that remained of the international star.
``So it's great that he's still part of our lives and part of our television programming ... and it's a continuation of what we started as a family and we're still very much a crazy family,'' she said.
Today would have been a special day for her late husband.
``I think he would have said: `Crikey, mate, I couldn't wait for Bindi to take over','' she said.
``Bindi's been filming with us since she first hatched.
``It was a natural progression to be doing her own shows, and Steve was involved with the first seven episodes and he really enjoyed watching Bindi doing and
showcasing the wildlife that he worked with for so many years.
``It gave him great pleasure.''
Ms Irwin said she was excited the series would join other popular local children's shows such as The Wiggles and Bananas in Pajamas, which were ``going forward to infiltrate the world'' as the Crocodile Hunter series had done.
The show will debut in Australia on July 18, but will screen first in America next month.
