Steve Irwin honoured in India
It seems everybody loved Steve Irwin - a new crocodile research centre in India has just been named after the late television celebrity and Queensland zoo owner.
Known to TV viewers as the "Crocodile Hunter", Irwin died last year when a sting ray barb pierced his chest off the North Queensland coast during the filming of a documentary about sea creatures.
The conservationist's wildlife and reptile documentaries were a smash hit around the world.
The Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary boasted that its new research centre was the first instance in the world in which a government body had named a memorial after Irwin.
Forest Minister Benoy Viswom launched the centre at a function in Neyyar, saying he had promised to name the centre after Irwin when hearing of his death.
The facility was officially launched as the Steve Irwin Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre.

It occupies 2.5 hectares of land, and will house marsh and mugger crocodiles found in the marshlands of the area
