Wayward Gator Caught, Released to FWC
April 4, 2007 - 12:20PM
Responding to a resident complaint, Santa Rosa County deputies took a wayward alligator into custody after finding the reptile on the beach in Navarre.
Monday morning a report of an alligator on the beach was made, but the animal entered the water before deputies could catch it. The alligator once again came up on the beach later that same afternoon. Answering the call, Sgt. Jason Rickmon proceeded to emulate his hero, the late Steve Irwin, and was finally able to capture it.
The alligator was placed in the custody of Officer Webb of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission, who will be relocating the gator to a safer habitat.
