Irwin's daughter 'under no pressure'
Tuesday, 09 Jan 2007 12:15
Bindi's parents Steve and Terri Irwin
Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, will come under no pressure to face the public during her tour of the US, the family manager has said.
Eight-year-old Bindi will travel to the country to promote her new TV series Bindi, The Jungle Girl.
She is scheduled to appear on a number of television programmes, perform with the Wiggles entertainers and attend an event with Russell Crowe.
But manager John Stainton, who is also a close family friend of the Irwin's, said that she would be able to pull out of any event if she could not face the limelight.
"My criteria is if Bindi doesn't want to do it that day, if she wants to go to the zoo or the beach, then that's what we're doing," he said on ABC radio.
At the tribute service for Steve Irwin, who was killed last September after he was struck in the heart by a stingray's barb while filming a television show, Bindi described her father as her "hero".
"He was working to change the world so that everyone would love wildlife like he did," she told the thousands attending.
"I don't want daddy's passion to ever end. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did."
