You know, I never really found Antonio Banderas Hot until I saw The Mask of Zorro. God, with the white pants he wears in that one scene by the mine. GAH! With that in mind, I've gone back and rewatched some of his earlier works with a new appreciation, a new vision, a new desire to see him really play a Bad Guy. He plays A Lot of vigilantes. He plays a lot of Good Guys, a fact which I find completely disgusting. So Thank Goodness for Bloodsucking Creatures of the Night.
That's right. In Interview with the Vampire, Mr. Banderas portrays Armand, the leader of a vampiric acting troupe with a fondness for brocaded velvet and an equal fondness for Louis, the wussiest vampire this side of the Mississippi. Some unresolved sexual tension between the two? Absolutely. But apparently the world isn't ready for a gay Brad Pitt (witness the machoizing of Achilles in Troy for more evidence). As far as vampires go, he's not the Evilest One I've ever seen, but he does strip and eat a girl on stage in front of an entire audience. And to wear robes like the ones he does, he must scare the other vampires quite a bit to prevent them from laughing at him. If you can scare the other vampires, you must be Pretty Bad.
