Walter Cronkite.jpg

RIP
Thank you WALTER CRONKITE!
An American icon and the voice of truth in so many defining moments in American history passed last night. I grew up with him and Dan Rather after him on the nightly news check in. I met him once on a shuttle flight to DC with of all people Pete Rock and CL smooth who was sitting next to him. Walter Cronkite chatted it up with CL the whole flight and gave him his autograph as well. CL was psyched cause his mom would be impressed.

It made me think Walter Cronkite was pretty cool he didn’t bat an eye at any of us and shook all of our hands and wished us luck in our careers. We walked away impressed and I said to myself dam that’s a cool older dude no wonder I always dug him reading the news……Guy was also really tall like six foot 3 or something which surprised us all.I dug his vibe and his wife seemed pretty cool two as she was with him, dam I wish I had a digital camera back then……

Walter Cronkite stood for a time in news when state controlled media wasn’t the norm and him along with his mentor Edward R Murrow and later Dan Rather were always liberal leaning, and searched for the truth beneath the lies. This type of journalism is dying a fast death daily. We need a new Walter Cronkite the closest thing we have is Keith Oberman in the mainstream media these days…….
