Hi Denny, Nice sm420 rebuild pic album. I just went through my three speed on my 53 truck, ie new bearing syncros and first gear. It wasn't that bad, had to use the neighbors press plus made a tool to expand the snap ring on the rear bearing and so forth. Do you think the difficulty rating is that much more with this bigger and heavier tranny? Thanks, Steve

I am currently looking for SM420 transmission. The one I had in my old Chevy is completely broken. The gears jump like crazy and at this point i need a new one or a rebuild one. http://atransmissionrepair.com

Looks like an early 50s three speed. Brings back memories of rebuilding the trans in my 42 Chev. took a bit the get there rear bearing retainer ring out, it had one ear broken off and it was my first trans rebuild.
