Taken in the woods off of Dame Road, Newmarket, New Hampshire; this spectacular owl of the far north woods showed up for about a week, two years ago; one is seen in this area every 10 to 20 years; since they sense no fear from humans, it was quite easy to approach as long as you moved slowly and quietly, the owl continued to hunt while he was being watched by an enthralled group of birders.
