CHEM PLANT LOOP REMOVAL

On November 24, 2007... a smallish change was made to the railroad. The first scenery-related change in nearly a year.

An overview of the "before" scenario. We can see the (semi-buried!) grassy fill with the tank cars on top. This was in the way... it was semi-unbelieveable (although dad says it was based on a prototype)... and it was poorly implemented. The grass (fake fur) never really worked... the shape of the fill was more like a loaf of bread than a fill. The tunnel entrance to the chemical plant (well, refinery, actually!) was only thru the tunnel in the foreground. The tunnel exited directly onto a grade crossing with zero visibility because of the curve and the train tunnel.... and dozens of gasoline tankers a day would be using this crossing!!!

other sizes: small medium original auto
