The second February car... a pretty-much bone-stock Walthers 90-ton depressed center flat. The only revisions, after discussing with Mike Rose, were some MDC/TrainsCanada converted roller bearing trucks (with 33" Reboxxes), and the necessary shimming to bring the car back up to height. The car came with 100-ton modern trucks with 36" wheels... which gives a very different look. The prototype actually had 28" wheels.... which just looked too dorky to our eyes. Plus, they'd have essentially required a complete bolster rebuild (the 33" wheels already require two red Kadee washers per end).
Otherwise, the factory grabs are applied and painted with Pollyscale Roof Red (a 1/2 ounce bottle from the other side of the hobby shop). The car still has a few revisions to make... namely the large "sail" type tiedowns that were on this car (featured in the Conrail Color Guide book).
Model completed (sans weathering) - 2/7/07.
