I made a day trip from Barcelona to Zaragoza by train. Aljafería (photo 1-24) was the main reason for my revisit to Zaragoza. I was in this city 12 years ago, on the 5th day since this palace reopened after being closed for years for renovation. However, I was with a tour and did not have time to go inside.
The Aljafería Palace is one of Zaragoza's top tourist attractions. Unique in its historical context as the largest surviving example of Islamic/Spanish architecture from the Taifas period, it is the only large building from the time of Muslim rule in Spain that can be seen outside of Andalusia region.
