The trip to Montenegro was only a 1-day optional tour from Dubrovnik, Croatia. After walking through the old town of Kotor, the big tour bus crawled up the high Mount Lovecen. Our young driver was amazingly calm and patient. There were so many nerve racking turns along the narrow and winding road that some of us couldn't help screaming, followed by applauding after he did it so skillfully. Twice our tour guide even had to get off the bus to clear the path for him by picking up some pieces of rock that could have caused danger. The most captivating part was the scenery, which was as breathtaking as the drive (photo #18).
On the slope of Mount Lovecen we stopped for lunch at a village called Njegusi. Almost everyone had ham and their local made cheese sandwich, which I devoured in less than 5 minutes in order to walk around with my camera. This village is best known as the birth place of Montenegro's royal dynasty of Petrovic. The king was born in this small village.
The next quick stop was at Cetinje, which was once the old capital of Montenegro. We only visited King Nicolas Museum, inside which taking photos was not allowed. Before returning to Dubrovnik, we spent 45 minutes to have a glimpse of the famous resort Budva.
