Designed by architect Sir Charles Lanyon and sculpted by Thomas Kirk, completed in 1853, the iconic 30.5 meters (100 feet) tall bell tower is located in Parliament Square of Trinity College Dublin.
There's a superstition all along: “if the bell tolls as you're walking through, you will fail all of your exams.”
Many students deeply fear the bell tolling at random intervals.
To completely eliminate the risk, most undergraduates strictly refuse to take the convenient shortcut under the tower's archway entirely until they graduate.
Those who walk straight underneath the bell tower, are mostly tourists.
