A bronze Equestrian statue of the Great Elector (Frederick William of Brandenburg). The "Great Elector" was previously explained in Photo 035.
Designed by sculptor Andreas Schlüter, cast between 1696 and 1709, the sculpture originally stood on the Rathaus Bridge in Berlin before being safely hidden during World War II.
It was moved to its current palace location in 1952.
