The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is a monumental Neo-Renaissance and Baroque Protestant church located on Museum Island, on the left of the Old Museum.
Built between 1894 and 1905 by order of Emperor William II based on plans by Julius Raschdorff.
The Berlin Cathedral is actually not a true cathedral in the religious sense because it has never been the seat of a bishop.
In English, the word "cathedral" specifically implies a church that houses a bishop's throne.
However, it serves as the largest Protestant church in Germany and houses an important European dynastic crypt (Hohenzollern crypt).
