067_An artifact from the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt,.jpg

This red quartzite pair statue depicts Amenhotep-user, a doorkeeper of Amun, alongside his wife, Ta-net-wadj (Tentwadj). The couple is shown seated together, with their daughter and son depicted on the lower part of the statue, flanking them.
The sculpture dates back to the 18th Dynasty, specifically during the reign of Amenhotep II (approx. 1428–1397 BCE).
The stone monument has incredibly survived intact for over 3,400 years.
Most ancient Egyptian statues survived because they were placed inside dark, sealed tombs or temples, buried safely under the desert sand for millennia until modern archaeologists excavated them.
