The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, the emperor who had built the Great Wall.
It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE in his mausoleum with the purpose of protecting him in his afterlife.
This Section is Pit 1 of the Terracotta Museum in Xian, the biggest one among the three pits, said to have more than 6,000 soldiers, horse, and chariots in total.
However, due to the ongoing excavation and process of restoration, currently there are about 3,000 in display.
