Moon 13 100X 4-4-04.jpg

MN56, 40mm EP, 5X Powermate. Camera was set at the widest setting due to the length of the this setup and the weight on the end of that lens column. The full moon is the poorest time to take photos of it. But, the best light for working out focusing, etc. For those interested, the other moon photos from last night are here

While this is an early April PaD, I am leaving it in this gallery since there is a scarcity of astrophotography in the PaDs.

Minolta DiMAGE A1
1/60s f/8.0 at 7.2mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Wayne, how do you hook the camera up to the telescope? Is there a special attachment? Very cool shot, by the way.

Amazing photo. I keep thinking about what today's photography equipment allows us to do-see the moon clearer than a telescope would have allowed, observe the finest detail of an insect, capture birds in their natural habitat-what Audubon would have done for that. Anyway, thanks for the super capture.

No flash for astrophotography. The lens of my cameras are 49mm. The lens of the eyepiece is 40mm which gives some vignettting at wide angles. This does give it a flash photo appearance. Since this was one of a series of test photos with a newer scope and camera, it wsa at the widest angle setting of the camera. I try to use f/8.0 for all my astrophotography when possible. This gives the best sharpness available from most cameras. The camera, telescope, and lens all focus and it is a learning experience as to what combination gets the best focus. This was why I was doing the test.

Very nice shot. I think this could be turned into a postcard which ex-spouses could
send to each other. Just add the words: "Wish you were here."

Wayne, this is just plain gorgeous. I like taking moon pictures, but of course they never turn out as good as this! :)

The Mak Newt is amazingly clear no matter what the poweer. As far as I have been able to find, it is the best value in telescopes with premium views.

Excellent shot.
I can't believe how clear it is.

Perhaps, one day, you can see if there is an astronomy club there. They have star parties where many members set up scopes to look through. I think you and your daughter and friend would enjoy it immensely.

Right before I logged on again this morning I thought to myself how much I want to see the results of your space shots last night and here it is. WOW WOW WOW..almost as if one could just reach out and touch it. My daughter and friend are in awe as well.

Fantastic DeMorcan.
