Jas and Min on their way to Milan. They had their own seat as the plane only had 29 passengers, the other 100 hadn't turned up. |
Part of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan. We had 6 hours in Milan on our way to Sicily from London. |
An impressive building in the Piazza. It was a public holiday and everything was shut but people were still around. |
 |
Clint and I always seem to see scaffolding wherever we go. In this case covering a cathedral. |
A side view of Il Duomo (The Cathedral). It was massive and covered in so many statues that would have taken ages to do. |
You can see how much detail went into the cathedral.... |
 And here. |
From the back of the Duomo. |
 Inside. |
One of the many stained glass windows. |
Another building in the Piazza. |
Our first view of Mt. Etna, the active volcano in Sicily, taken outside of the airport. |
A view of a part of Melilli from my Nonnas top floor. Alot of the buildings had been damaged from an earthquake in 1990. |
We went to Siracusa for the day, which is a large town/small city about 45 mins from Melilli. They had some great markets. |
Table for two with superb views? In Siracusa. |
We look a bit pasty from the lack of sun in London and were thoroughly enjoying the 28degree days. Bliss........ |
Clint and my Dad. Dad was over the moon the whole time we were there as he got to show us around his Sicily. |
The packed Piazza in Melilli outside the San (Saint) Sebastian Church. |
The town was packed for days whilst the festival was on. There were fireworks, endless bells, cannons, chanting..... |
San Sebastian. Made from and dripping in gold. It is kept in a safe with 7 gates but makes an appearance for the festival. |
We were all on a high witnessing the events of the festival over the past few days....... |
It was an amazing experience, something that we will always remember. |
Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister. |
My Dad and his Mum, my Nonna. 88 years young and extremely lovable. |
Clint walks with Nonna back up to her house. The 'streets' of Melilli are all quaint, some so narrow only a mini will fit. |
Nonna and her flowers. We gave her some window boxes of geraniums as a thankyou for having us in her house. |
Halfway up the mountain on our way to Taormina, about a 90 minute drive north of Melilli. |
 |
Taormina is a town built up on a mountain with the sea down below. It's a very touristy town but fantastic. |
A view of Mt. Etna from Taormina. |
A couple of days after we arrived in Sicily it disappeard under smog, like this day. |
An amazing little island about 50metres off the coast. We didn't make it there but would love to in the future!! |
An amazing view half way up. |
Uh-oh, car trouble two-thirds of the way up.... luckily it made it up to the top where we got a replacement. Lucky! |
Some views of the streets of Taormina...... |
There were alot of these quaint stairways. |
 |
It's an expensive place..... I wonder why??! Full of nice looking houses with priceless views. |
 Lovely views. |
 |
 The main street. |
Clint and the sea in between Sicily and Italy. We could just see Italy on the horizon. |
A view of a castle above Toarmina, from the next town up. |
A terrace on the outskirts of Sortino, a town 15 minutes from Melilli where my Dad's brother lives. |
This terrace was in a valley, which looked like a miniature Grand Canyon. |
A cave in the Valley, near Pantallica. |
Pantallica. Holes were carved in rocks by Pygmies as housing many centuries ago. |
Clint near a church in the Pantalica region. |
Spring is in the air.... when we were in Sicily last September it was the butt end of summer and everything was brown and barren |
The bride and her entourage on the way to the church, fashionably late of course! |
The bride and her father. |
The bride and groom with their wedding cake. |
Cousin Antonello and his son, Samuel. |
Karen and John, before he put on The Blue Shirt. |
Clint and I with Alfredo, my dad's cousin..... Clint was his best friend when we were there. |
A small part of the massive family. It was just after the wedding reception where we enjoyed a 7 course meal. |
Happy, but also sad as it was our last day in Sicily before we headed back to London. |
 |
 |
Donna and Gino. Without them there in Sicily, we would not have had such a fantastic time. |
Clint with Antonello and Concetta. |
My cousin Gianfranco, a professor of music. We didn't see him last year as he was in Mexico. |
Cousin Katie from England has just told us that she is pregnant.... way to go coz! |
 Pizza in the making. |
Zia Pinuccia and Concetta preparing the bases. |
 |
Cousin Antonello and the wood fire oven. Mmmm, pizza.... |
 |
The end result.... before being devoured. |
The Pizzeria Italia Masters, with Jas and Min giving their seal of approval. |
