Julie, Clint and Emily waiting patiently at Heathrow for our flight to Munich. |
Clint, Julie and Jarrod researching. |
On our way to the gate. |
Munich. The city had it all... shops galore, beer halls and a fantastic atmosphere. |
The Glockenspiel. We chose sleep over seeing this thing make noise . A bit overrated apparently. |
Emily, Tia, Erin and Julie. The girls hanging about in the market. |
A Munich local? So cuddly looking but a bit aggressive when Erin tried to take a photo. |
Jarrod, Tia and us, fresh from a beer hall. hic.......... |
These babies weigh a ton. |
A small area of the Hofbrauhaus, another beer hall. Impossible to smuggle a stein (large beer glass) from this place. |
At the Hofbrauhaus with some Yankee soldiers. They tried to introduce us to the 'joys' of chewing tobacco. |
Mmmmm, German cuisine, mainly consisting of pork, sausages, potatoes and meatloaf. |
Where to go when the beer halls are closed?? To the gay bar of course. Note the gorgeous interior! |
Bunny's Pub, our place of residence in St Johann in Tirol, Austria. Very convenient and close to the slopes. |
We stayed in the apartment above the pub and this was our fantastic view. |
Up bright and early on our first morning. |
The 6 of us at Max's pub, conveniently located at the foot of the mountain. |
Jarrod, Tia, Clint, Julie, Erin and Emily. |
Clint and Tia with Stefan, our private snowboarding instructor. We had 1 lesson at the beginning of the week. |
Learning to strap into the board, not as easily as it looks. Almost guaranteed to fall over everytime. |
Yours truly, high on adrenaline. (and extremely sore, and it was only the first day) |
Clint goes down and waves in the process. |
Tia. You couldn't miss that funky orange beanie. |
Julie became official photographer for a couple of days as she did her ankle in. Here, the gang waves to her on the chairlift. |
Julie and the demented ankle. To add insult to injury, she had to wait 2 hours for the water to heat up for the shower. |
Clint flies down the mountain..... |
and he's here already. |
Clint and his 'beanie hair'. |
We had fantastic weather, snow- light and then heavy, overcast days, and blinding days like this. |
Views of St Johann from various heights of the mountian. |
|
|
These views are one of a kind. |
|
Pastel buildings. |
Julie's arms are out for balance. |
Proof that 'arms out for balance' doesn't always work. |
An 'L' plate on her back would have been good. |
Clint and his bestfriend, the snow ball. |
Our first snowman. And only 6 inches high. |
A night out bumboarding with the pub crew. |
Bumboarding consists of these flimsy plastic 'spades', your bum, and no brakes, other than your feet. |
Jarrod frosted up from bumboarding. It was bitterly cold to say the least. |
Lunch was usually at this restaurant/cafe about 800m up the mountain. |
Mmmm, hot choccie. St Johann had legendary hot chocolates. |
Jas and Min with their own snowman. |
Going..... Clint and Tia bury Jarrod in the pub car park |
......going.... |
.....gone. |
Fun in the snow with some snow angels. |
Clint, Jarrod, Tia and Julie built this snow man in the pub car park. |
Putting on the finishing touches. |
Ta daaaaa. Our snow man, complete with coca cola buttons, fosters scarf, croc dundee hat and vegetables for facial features. |
'We'd like to thank Fosters, the most famous 'Australian' beer and Bunny's Pub for making this possible...' |
Is my car under there? |
Clint and Jarrod. Always egging on each other to do the impossible.... usually off-piste. |
We are here and going to the top. Clint and Jarrod were suckers for fresh powder and anything off-piste. |
It's a long way to the top...... on one of the many chairlifts. |
Note the steep ascent. |
Anyone out there?? Scary stuff, venturing into the unknown... |
1700m up and still not high enough. |
Priceless. |
Gives you that warm fuzzy feeling, doesn't it? |
Thirsty, need water, none around... fresh powdery snow will do. Unless Clint and Jarrod made tracks on it. |
The traditional self-portrait. |
Back in Munich before flying back to London. |
We had at least 10 hours to kill in Munich, and everything was shut. What better way to pass time than to pose for the camera? |
Bumping into the waiter at the beer hall from the night before. |
Julie tries out her funky new rollerskates in the hostel. Wired for sound......... |
Wesssstsiiiide. |
Tia finds a shoe. We were so bored, things like this excited us. |
Yeehaaar cowboy. WE LOVE GERMANY!! |
