Christmas markets in the town square, Vörösmarty ter. |
The markets weren't as big as Pragues but still great to wander around. |
 |
Smoking sausages....this was our first sight there and we had one for dinner. Very tasty but the WORST tasting burps afterwards |
Kürtoskalács. Can't pronounce it so we called them 'twirly whirlies'. It's a Transylvanian honey bread. |
Yum! The 'twirly whirly' is made by wrapping the thin dough in a spiral around a wooden 'rolling pin' and cooked over coals. |
This was our 2nd one on our second night. This one is flavoured cinnamon and the night befores was coconut. Divine!!! |
They were the most delicous sweets ever! Obviously, as we took so many photos. |
And Jas and Min got their own mini vanilla sugar flavour 'twirly whirly' on our last day. |
An advent calendar in the town square. Every night at 5pm a window would open to reveal a picture. Drew huge crowds. |
 Traditional Hungarian dress. |
 |
Yours truly on the Buda side of Budapest. Pest was on the other side of the Danube River which is where we stayed. |
 |
Very grey and bleak but still pretty. |
 Parliament House. |
The Fisherman's Bastion with Matthias Church just sneaking in there on the right. |
 |
In the vaulting of the Fishermans Bastion. |
Matthias Church and Clint. There was scaffolding on the front of the church. Can't seem to escape it, people. |
The Royal Palace that housed alot of Museums (that we didn't go to as we're not really into that stuff) |
The Royal Palace at night. (It's there somewhere !) |
The Opera House on Andrassy Avenue. The Avenue is a World Heritage Listed 'site'. Heaps of old buildings lined the avenue. |
Hero's Square. At the end of Andrassy Avenue. |
The Museum of Fine Arts. |
Clint does his hero impression. |
Ice Skating in City Park. Apparently Europes largest outdoor ice rink. |
Steady on. Surrounded by strangers. |
Jas and Min hitched a ride too. Good stuff. |
