Great shot Peter. In SE Louisiana we call them poule d'eau or "water chicken". Rather dumb birds. Many old timers enjoy hunting them for the table. Too gamey for my tastes.

They have strange communication characteristics. But I think they are neat looking too. Have you ever seen their feet up close?
