Evening grosbeak. Malejpg

First time I captured this specie. These birds normally are quite a bit further north and only come down here in winter.

Great capture. I haven't seen one of these in a long time. Usually only catch during migration in the Sierras.

Wow - never seen them before. Nice to combine the two birds in one image. I'm always tempted to do so myself but usually avoid it if the birds aren't interaction or one of them is clearly out of focus. Borderline here on both issues... Maybe a closer crop on the lower bird alone would get you an image with more impact...

I grew up in Upper New York Sate along the Canadian Border. Grosbeaks' are everywhere in the winter.

Nice Picture

Nice shot Peter. Wish you'd send these guys our way - haven't seen one in years. Glad you were finally able to photograph them.

Nice catch. We're supposed to have two types of grosbeaks (rose-breasted and blue) here in Ohio but I've never seen one. I'm still looking, though.
