We took a 30 hour train trip from Beijing to Nanning. We shared a soft sleeper compartment with two other people. To our delight one of our companions spoke very good English and made things much easier for us. She had been the hospital for about a year after being in an apartment fire and she was traveling to stay with her family in Guilin. She was very self conscious and did not want us to take her picture.
