Bikers Beware

The driver of the car didn’t look in his side view mirror and opened the car door – bam!
The biker didn’t see it coming…..

There was an ambulance at the red light and the driver of the car, and I were
able to flag it down. Luckily, “Iron Man” was okay (when the EMT asked him his name
that is what he answered – so at least he still had his sense of humor) –
the handlebars had hit him in the chest and knocked the wind out of him.
Thank God for the helmet!
(couldn't resist snapping a picture but I did wait until I knew he was okay)

Apparently the driver didn’t see the sign below……

Great on-the-spot photojournalism ... a lesson as to why we should always have a camera handy. Fortunately probably only his pride and his front wheel were hurt.

Guess I'll have to start carrying a camera all the time! Great catch!

Nice bit of "on-the-spot" photojournalism.
Sorry but ah just don't get bikes! Motorbikes...yeh, bikes with no engine...no!
If you want to excercise, get a machine and put in yore basement!!!

Good thing the parking meter didn't bite him. In our part of the country, it's ALWAYS the cyclist's fault because "bicycles aren't supposed to ride on the road". I'm glad Iron Man didn't get a serious dose of road rash too.

That is painful to see.
I felt a little better after reading the caption, but it still looks painful.

I agree with 'Guest' comment. He probably won't have crashed either if he wasn't drinking convenience store bought sports drink...Ha! Or riding a Trek.

Well, you said you were heading out for an adventure! I guess you found it!
What a great capture. I bet your heart was racing like mad until you knew he was okay. Good job holding the camera still!

Sorry, but this is a great illustration of the rule never ride in the door zone. Totally the cyclist's fault.

Could have been worse and good timing for the EMT's
to be right there just in case.

Ouch! What great photojournalism! I'm glad you were there to help! We should always make sure of what is around us. I'm sure that driver will be more careful in the future!
