Game Faces
Jake (on the left) had just fallen on the rocks and busted his lip. He refused to cry. These boys can be tough if they want to. Let's not mention the whining when they want to be picked up, though.

This metallic green VW bus almost glowed in the shadows of this thunderstorm.

Meet Eliza Jean
The newest member of our family, my granddaughter, Eliza Jean, born Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 9:08 am. She weighs 7 lbs, 10 oz, and is 20 inches long. Pretty good for 3 weeks early. Isn't she cute?

Ben's Feet
Baby toes are the tiniest parts of the tiniest people, and I just love them.

Can you say Duh?
This is our third summer in this house. This year, we have these beautiful thistles blooming in the area just behind the back yard. They are seven feet tall and the butterflies love them. Even until I posted the picture and got ready to write this description, I couldn't figure out why we suddenly have thistle blooming out there. As I looked out the window past the BIRDFEEDER it dawned on me. We have been feeding thistle seed to the goldfinches! Duh!

At the Reception
This photo was actually taken 11 August 2007 at my daughter's best friend's wedding. I have been a little behind on my PaD, so I wanted to catch up. Not completely going by the rules, but I'm doing the best I can.

Dumpdozer
This is Ben and Boppaw on the big piece of equipment the boys call the "dumpdozer." My husband's secret ambition is to work one of these. Ben was excited to try it too. Jake had to be persuaded later to sit in the seat.

Big Hole
This is the beginning of our hole in the ground which we will fill with water and dollars. Yep, we are building a pool. Very exciting, and a little scary.

Dancin' Under the Skies
Our last Pops concert of the season. It was all dance tunes, and the local ballroom dancers performed. It was really hard to keep my hubby from jumping up and joining in the macarena (not)! The funniest thing was watching a bunch of "senior adults" dancing the Electric Slide.

Faces in Unusual Places
My daughter actually pointed this "face" out to me. It's in our powder room. Something you don't notice till you have a little time to sit and look around you!

Thursday Challenge--Elvis
Elvis died 30 years ago today. He was supposed to do a concert in our little town a couple of weeks later. People around here still have their tickets to that concert, maybe hoping that he really isn't dead, and will reschedule.
This is one of my Blue Suede Shoes.

Stars
A gift from a friend who is always on the lookout for stars to help me decorate my screened in porch.

Hey, Come Back Here!
It's almost impossible to get a 2 year old to stand still long enough to snap a picture. This is all I got!

Happily Ever After
Today we went the wedding of my daughter's best friend since first grade. It was beautiful, and as they left the church we threw rose petals. I wish Joy and Nick many years of happiness!

My hubby graciously volunteered(?) to help me with this project. Thanks, Hon!

Bye Bye Ishies
This is such a sad picture. Today we drained the pond and got the rest of the "ishies" out. It is a huge mess. The expected high temperature tomorrow is about 100 degrees, so it is going to start stinking, too. Yuck!

SP--Fish in a Bucket
We are getting rid of our backyard pond, and so today I spent 1 1/2 hours trying to catch the "ishies," as Jacob calls them. They are going to live in my friend Cyndy's pond. I kept trying to take a picture of them, and couldn't do it without getting my silhouette. Therefore, I got a self-portrait.

Not Bambi
This little guy has grown up around our property, along with several others. Tonight when I drove up the driveway, he was standing there munching on my plants. I got out of my car and called over to him to stop eating the landscaping. He obviously wasn't scared of me. I started taking pics and moving closer, all the while talking to him. Finally I got to about 15 feet when I snapped this one. I'm really mad that he and his family are eating all my plants, but he is just too darn cute to hate.

Bad Juan
Tonight we went to dinner at Chilli Willi's, a pseudo-Mexican restaurant in town. The food is pretty good. I ordered the Bad Juan margarita. But it wasn't that good. In fact, I guess you could say I'm a margarita snob. Most restaurants just use sweet & sour mix and tequila, which are way too sweet for me. Our friend Bob T. makes the best margaritas in the world, with fresh squeezed lime juice, and the secret ingredient, a single village mezcal, which is really smoky, like scotch. So tonight, I asked my husband to remind me not to order a margarita when I am out to dinner. I'll drink mine at home.

A Walk in the Park
My husband is coming off a week of night shift, and Friday is the transition day. He sleeps till noon and then gets up and tries to stay awake till 10 pm. We have to keep moving, so we took a walk in the park at about 1 pm, in 90 degree heat. It really wasn't that bad because the park is beautiful and mostly shady on the path.

Frostop
I was running errands today, and was stopped at a traffic light near Frostop drive-in. The smell of the hot dogs was overwhelming, so I had to detour there for lunch. This place has been in business for at least 50 years. When I was little, the big revolving mug of root beer fascinated me. It was a real treat to go there to eat, long before the Golden Arches were in town. They even served root beer in little tiny mugs for kids. So even though hot dogs should not be on my diet, I cheated and ate one. (And it WAS low fat!).

Creation
Whether you believe in the Big Bang Theory, or that God said "Let There Be Light", and moved over the waters, I think this is what Creation looked like. (It is actually a shot of my hot tub at night!)
