Eggstrordinary
I'm being forced to learn more about my digital SLR, since my point and shoot is gone to the camera hospital. So I'm practicing with DOF. So far, so good.

A Lasting Impression
We've got these huge windows on the back of our house, and every day at least one bird slams into them. Some of them die, some are stunned and have to sit awhile before they can fly away, and others just seem to bounce off and keep going. We have tried putting reflective stuff on the windows, but it doesn't help. We have a bunch of these marks on the windows which even show the wings and feathers as they hit. These windows are hard to reach so they don't get cleaned real often. So the tally of bird vs. window continues to climb.

St. Paddy's Day Green
The flu has made its way through my house, and it hit me last night. Fever, shaking, coughing, the whole nine yards. Since Sarah was the previous victim, she knew just how to fix me up with Nyquil and Sprite. The fever is gone today, but I am still moving slowly. No green beer for me.

Growin' Up Way Too Fast
My daughter and son-in-law and their two boys are moving back to this area, and they are living with us while they look for a new house. Today, we took down the cribs and put up new "Big Boy" beds. They were so excited to help and couldn't wait for "nite-nite" time. Thankfully they went right to sleep. Another milestone reached. It's bittersweet, but I am always one to be moving forward, so it is also exciting.

Party Time
My friend Terri turned 50 today, and her husband cooked up an elaborate plan for a surprise party. It was held in a cool old loft room that used to be a department store downtown. If you are as old as me you will remember the hardwood floors, the pneumatic tube system that used to run through the store so you could pay and get your change from the main office, and the elevator that a little old lady sat in all day and pushed the buttons for you. This chair probably sitting where my mom bought my baby clothes.

Downtown Friday Night
It's a little town, and Pullman Plaza is the place to be on the weekends.

Brudders
These two saw me fiddling with the camera, trying out some shots, and started standing in front of me saying "cheese!" I couldn't disappoint them so I plopped them on the bench and told them to hug each other. This usually turns into a wrestling match, and today wasn't any different. I don't think they have a future in modeling, at least at this age!

Heidi
Heidi is my daughter Sarah's dog, a Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab mix. I tried to talk her out of getting a dog, since they have 2 1/2 year old twin boys and her life is hectic enough. But Heidi is perfect. If you want to take her for a run or walk, she will stay right beside you or walk beside the stroller. If you don't have time to exercise her, she will lay down by the couch all day long. She doesn't jump on people, but she will bark once or twice to let you know someone is coming to the door. The kids just crawl over her and basically abuse her, but she is very gentle with them. She doesn't chew up anything that doesn't belong to her, and she is totally housebroken. The kind of dog you would like to clone.

Pebbles
This is my first attempt with my husband's Nikon D70s. I have no idea what I am doing. I can't figure out the macro, I can't figure out how to turn off the flash. I know it is an awesome camera, and I am not a stupid person, so hopefully I will figure it out.

Don't Laugh at Me, I'm Sick
We've got the flu at our house. Sarah and the boys are staying here, and all three of them are sick. Poor Jacob didn't even feel well enough to go to Wal Mart with me today. This is how he looked after his nap. Sometimes you wish grandkids would just sit still and be quiet for a few minutes, till they get sick. Then all you want is for them to feel better. Hopefully, everyone will be well soon.

Promises, Promises
Even though we have been having unusually cold and snowy weather for this time of year, my daffodils are already up and swelling with blooms. Spring must be around the corner, right?

Back to Reality
As we say in our family, "the vacation is over." Our flight didn't leave Antigua until 5:20 pm, so we spent half the day at the resort in our "real clothes" watching all the lucky people who didn't have to go home yet. We had a wonderful week, and have already started planning next year's vacation. Only eleven and a half months to go!
