Lantana
This is one of my favorite flowers, because it is--(everybody say it along with me)--multi-colored. Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I love multi-color everything. These flowers are so cool because each bloom has 3 different colors on it. It was dying in my pots this summer, so I took them out and planted them in the ground, and they like it much better.
Oh yeah, this finishes my 8th month of PaD!!!

So Serious
We celebrated Eliza's first birthday today, but you'd never guess it from this pic. I think she was full of birthday cake and ready for a nap at this point.

Finger Lickin' Good
On the way home today, we stopped at Duke's BBQ in Walterboro, SC. We found out it was buffet, $8.26 for all you can eat. They had BBQ, chicken, green beans, stewed tomatoes, fried okra, black eyed peas, lima beans, macaroni and cheese, onion rings, hush puppies, cole slaw, potato salad, and I don't know what all else. Desserts were banana pudding and peach cobbler. They had iced tea, sweet and unsweet. We ate on paper plates with plastic forks, napkins were a roll of paper towels. And to top it all off, each table had its own loaf of Sunbeam white bread. Definitely a down home atmosphere. And it was finger lickin' good!

Faithful
This statue is in the graveyard of Christ Church on St. Simon's Island, Ga. I googled it and the name is Fidele, or faithful. It is of a young boy plucking a thorn from his foot. I would love to know the story behind it.

Taken at night in the village at St. Simons, Ga.

Low Tide
We rode our bikes to the beach this morning. It was low tide, and I have never seen a beach so wide. We walked through the tide pools and looked for shells and sand dollars. The water was warm and the breeze kept us from being too hot. Very relaxing; just what I needed.

A Beacon
We've arrived at St. Simon's Island, Georgia. It's hot and humid, and it is definitely still summer here. They just had tropical storm Fay go through here last week, but luckily there was not much damage. This lighthouse has been standing since 1872, and has seen its share of storms. We're looking forward to a few days of lazing, shopping, and most importantly, eating!

The Grape Escape
My friend and I decided to squeeze a little bit more summer into our lives, so we are headed to the beach in Georgia for a few days (thanks to our hubbies who are holding down the fort at home). We stopped for lunch at Shelton Vineyard in Virginia, clost to Mt. Airy. We had a fantastic lunch and then enjoyed some wine tasting at the winery. I felt just like we were in California wine country. Good times!

LIve Bait
OK, this pic is really from back in July, but I had to put it in here. In Wisconsin, they were selling live bait from vending machines. First time I have ever seen it. You had your choice of crickets, night crawlers, and other similar creepy crawlers. I don't fish, so I didn't buy any to see how they are packaged. But very strange and interesting!

My Stuff
I feel like a teenybopper with a bulletin board. This is where I hang all my fun stuff I want to remember. It's like scrapbooking, only easier!

Jumbo Mini Combo
I stopped in Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken today, first time ever. A lot like KFC. This was in Eastern Kentucky, and it is definitely a "country" type establishment. I felt a little out of my element. You may notice the No. 4 combo, which is "Livers or Gizzards," but the funniest item on the menu is No. 8, the "Jumbo Mini Combo." I wonder if you can supersize that?!

Dark Angel
Very eerie shot taken at night in the pool.

Cool Dude
I borrowed a friend's waterproof camera and had so much fun taking pictures. It's harder than I thought since the camera was under the surface and my head was above. Next time I will wear goggles so I can see what I am doing.

Summer Treat
The best way for 3 year olds to eat popsicles: take off their shirts and put 'em outside!

Fir Tree
This one is ok, with pretty good lighting, color, and focus. I'm getting more used to working up close with this camera.

Black Swallowtail
I'm forcing myself to use my Nikon D70s, but oh, how I miss my close-up setting on my little point-and-shoot.

Happy Birthday, Mammaw
This would have been my grandmother's 100th birthday. She lived till she was 93. She took care of my brother and me a lot while we were growing up, and at 74 years old she babysat for both my daughters when they were babies. She loved flowers and gardening, and I think she would have liked this picture.

S'Mores
We spent a very pleasant evening around the campfire at our friends' house, eating s'mores and watching for falling stars. I'm not ready for summer to be over, but it felt like fall, and that was nice.

Oh, Deer
Not a great shot,I know. These guys are regulars in my yard every morning and evening. There are two fawns and I don't know how many adults. I hate it when they eat my plants, but I still enjoy watching them wander around my property. They aren't very scared of us, either.

Sands of Vacations Past
Every time we go to the beach, we try to bring back a container of sand. We started filling these little bottles, and they are a nice way to remember the vacation.

Forest Canopy Shawl
This is my first finished lace knitting project. I really enjoyed working on it, but I had to concentrate very hard. I have only been knitting for 4 years, and I like to push myself to learn new techniques. It's good for my brain.

Hilton the Clown
This is SUPPOSED to be a game center. You throw balls and rings and score points. Hilton decided it looked like something to wear. The boys thought it was pretty funny.
