Lantana
This is one of my favorite flowers, because it is--(everybody say it along with me)--multi-colored. Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I love multi-color everything. These flowers are so cool because each bloom has 3 different colors on it. It was dying in my pots this summer, so I took them out and planted them in the ground, and they like it much better.
Oh yeah, this finishes my 8th month of PaD!!!

So Serious
We celebrated Eliza's first birthday today, but you'd never guess it from this pic. I think she was full of birthday cake and ready for a nap at this point.

Finger Lickin' Good
On the way home today, we stopped at Duke's BBQ in Walterboro, SC. We found out it was buffet, $8.26 for all you can eat. They had BBQ, chicken, green beans, stewed tomatoes, fried okra, black eyed peas, lima beans, macaroni and cheese, onion rings, hush puppies, cole slaw, potato salad, and I don't know what all else. Desserts were banana pudding and peach cobbler. They had iced tea, sweet and unsweet. We ate on paper plates with plastic forks, napkins were a roll of paper towels. And to top it all off, each table had its own loaf of Sunbeam white bread. Definitely a down home atmosphere. And it was finger lickin' good!

Faithful
This statue is in the graveyard of Christ Church on St. Simon's Island, Ga. I googled it and the name is Fidele, or faithful. It is of a young boy plucking a thorn from his foot. I would love to know the story behind it.

Low Tide
We rode our bikes to the beach this morning. It was low tide, and I have never seen a beach so wide. We walked through the tide pools and looked for shells and sand dollars. The water was warm and the breeze kept us from being too hot. Very relaxing; just what I needed.

A Beacon
We've arrived at St. Simon's Island, Georgia. It's hot and humid, and it is definitely still summer here. They just had tropical storm Fay go through here last week, but luckily there was not much damage. This lighthouse has been standing since 1872, and has seen its share of storms. We're looking forward to a few days of lazing, shopping, and most importantly, eating!

The Grape Escape
My friend and I decided to squeeze a little bit more summer into our lives, so we are headed to the beach in Georgia for a few days (thanks to our hubbies who are holding down the fort at home). We stopped for lunch at Shelton Vineyard in Virginia, clost to Mt. Airy. We had a fantastic lunch and then enjoyed some wine tasting at the winery. I felt just like we were in California wine country. Good times!

LIve Bait
OK, this pic is really from back in July, but I had to put it in here. In Wisconsin, they were selling live bait from vending machines. First time I have ever seen it. You had your choice of crickets, night crawlers, and other similar creepy crawlers. I don't fish, so I didn't buy any to see how they are packaged. But very strange and interesting!

My Stuff
I feel like a teenybopper with a bulletin board. This is where I hang all my fun stuff I want to remember. It's like scrapbooking, only easier!
