Moss Macro
Life is crazy, but I am determined to post a picture a day. This represents 4 completed months!

Where's My Food?
It's hard to be patient when you are hungry, but Cracker Barrel gives you a game to keep you from getting bored. Too bad all those little pieces keep falling to the floor, way back in the corner under the heating unit where no one ever cleans. And guess who had to crawl under the chair and stick her hand back in the nasty because we just have to have all the pieces?! Thank God for hand gel.

Cropped
No, the photo isn't cropped, but my beautiful hosta is. The deer are eating things as fast as they can grow. Why can't they just eat all the weeds instead?

Hairy Harry
I really hate bagworms because they are crawling everywhere in the spring, smushed all over the driveway and yuck! But close up, they are really pretty. And hairy.

A Few of My Favorite Things
My birthday cake, which my daughters designed. They included my favorite interests of travel, photography, knitting, gardening, music, traveling to Nicaragua, and Sandals resorts. The bees represent the fact that my name means "bee." It was multicolored, which I love, and by the way, it was delicious! My actual birthday is next week, but we celebrated a little early.

Mesmerizing
Our pool is open, and the heater is working fine. Tonight I just floated and looked up at the stars, and I felt weightless. Very cool.

Surfer Dudes
My goal this summer is to teach these guys to swim so they are safe in and around the pool. They are well on their way, and we have to drag them out kicking and screaming.
PS--it's my one year anniversary on pBase!

Jumping Jacks
This morning the boys have been "ekkersizing" with Boppaw. Jake especially likes push ups. They also do leg lifts, sit ups, and the always favorite "sun comes up, sun goes down" otherwise known as toe touches.

Sparkle and Stars
OK, this is a horrible photo but I am going to post it anyway. Tonight we attended a wine tasting event that was supposed to be outside on the roof of a building, watching the stars and moon. Bad weather forced it into our magnificant old theatre, the Keith-Albee. It is truly beautiful, even though shabby. I remember growing up here, going to plays. You could sit in the balcony, and the sides of the room and ceiling were made to look like you were in an outdoor theater, complete with fake pigeons on the walls. This place was really special, and it has luckily survived the years. For this event, we sat on the stage and looked out into the theatre, something I have never done before. I really tried to do it justice, but I didn't have the time to steady my camera for a good pic. You'll just have to take my word for it.

May Apple
These funny litle umbrellas are all over the woods around here. Very fitting description, since it of course started raining while I was trying to take pics today.

How Cool is This?
The boys were bored out of their minds so we headed to Walmart to buy sand for their sandbox. Who knew that Crayola makes colored play sand? I think we just dug in the dirt when I was a kid.

Tranquility
One more pic of the flowering trees in the park.

The DMV
This morning I schlepped all the way to the other end of town to the DMV to get my driver's license renewed. After I got there I realized I needed another form of ID with my address on it in addition to my driver's license. The nice lady at the desk suggested I go get a copy of my voter's registration at the courthouse, which was much closer than going home. When I went in the Voter's Registration office to get the card, they asked for an ID. So I showed them my driver's license. Does anyone else find this ironic?

Golden Touch
Cabell County Courthouse. We are a relatively poor county compared to a lot of the country. A few years ago someone donated money to paint the courthouse dome with gold leaf. Quite a stink at the time, since the county doesn't have enough money to fix the roads. But it sure does look nice!

Playing Catch Up
It's been way too long since Eliza Jean has had a picture posted here. She and her mama have both been sick and we haven't seen her since forever! I can't believe how big she is getting and how much her personality is emerging. Sweet baby!

Cowboy Hats
You may have thought these were Easter baskets, but you would have been wrong. I was told in no uncertain terms that these were cowboy hats.

Fruity Refreshment
The weather was perfect today, so we went to dinner with friends at a restaurant with outdoor seating. Shown is delicious sangria and Blue Moon beer with a slice of orange.

Red Bud
Most of my pics lately are kids or flowers, but I'm having a hard time keeping this PaD thing going with all the other stuff going on in my life right now. So bear with me.
By the way, I wonder why they call this Red Bud, when it is really more like fuschia.

Hurry Up!
Ben wandered into the laundry room this morning and realized that his wubbie (translate "lovey") was in the dryer. It's hard to explain to an almost 3 year old that he has to wait till it is dry.

Cherry Blossom Time
One of my favorite places in my hometown of Huntington, WV is Ritter Park, and one of the best times of year to enjoy it is now. The cherry trees will be followed by dogwoods in a few weeks. The weather was perfect today and we had a great time walking along the creek, watching squirrels and ducks.

Peace Offering
Today Nana (that's me) was in charge at naptime. Mama and Dada were doing house stuff and were not home. Well, the boys decided to party for 2 hours and not sleep at all, despite many warnings and the threat of no special candy for taking a good nap (i.e. gummy worms). So finally we got up and went outside to play. We decided it would be a good idea to pick some flowers so Mama wouldn't be so mad when she got home. They took it very seriously and we have a lovely bouquet of daffodils to show for our efforts. And by the way, Mama forgave them; how could she resist when they are so darn cute?

Long Shot
While hiking through the woods today, I found this golf ball. I don't know how it got here, but I can imagine two guys in that house on the hill with a couple of beers, hitting balls out across the ravine.

Big & Tall
This makes me realize how small we are and how big the world is.

Big Business
This is the local refinery. A big, dirty, smelly place. You would think as a tradeoff we would get better gas prices. Nope. Sometimes it is more expensive here than hours away. Go figure.

Way Up There
Traipsing through the woods today, I saw the remnants of an old deer stand, really high in a tree. I wonder how hard it was to get up there. I don't want to find out!
