For the past thirty years, some of us have been utterly dependent on a spice concoction from Spice Islands called Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning. It's a critical ingredient in Clams Genovese, a weekly menu item in our household as long as we can remember. But several years ago, Spice Islands discontinued Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning. We went from store to store, buying as many bottles as we could, but now, after lo these many years, we were down to our last half bottle. This demanded action. We found a "recipe" online and today, our friend Pam came over and we spent the afternoon drinking wine and recreating massive amounts of spaghetti sauce seasoning. To test it, we made (and consumed) a batch of clams genovese. Quite good, but one never knows after the second bottle of wine, so I'll have to make one of my Boboli pizzas later in the week to verify that we nailed the recipe.
