I've taken a liking to shooting animals, partially because the summer season doesn't offer as many local opportunities for photography, and partially because these animals are just so damn cute! I especially enjoy shooting smaller subjects extremely closeup, revealing details through a macro lens not normally seen by visitors to the zoo or those who encounter such critters in the wild. However, I have neither the knowledge or patience to try shooting these subjects in the wild (nor the budget to go to Africa!), so I've visited zoos to gather this group of images, including the Phoenix Zoo, Sonoran Desert Museum in Tuscon, Out of Africa in Camp Verda, Arizona, the Central Park Zoo in New York City and the San Diego Zoo in California.
