This Christmas I visited Santa Barbara, and the combination of a new Nikon D300 in my stocking from Santa (I must have been a good boy this year!) and a burning desire to get more intimate with my subject, the fabled California coastline, led me on many shooting adventures from Santa Barbara to Monterey. Wide angle lenses low to the rocky coastline were used to create stronger foregrounds, telephotos were used when perched atop cliffs to create panoramic detail cross-sections of rocky coastlines, and macro lenses were used for...well, macro shots, almost always with an increased emphasis on getting more intimate with the subject.

The California coastline...exquisite in it's beauty and intricate in it's details...always a subject worthy of extreme intimacy.
