Undulating mounds of granite boulders providing backdrops for joshua trees; Death Valley's sand dune ripples brought into sharp relief by the setting suns rays; the snow-covered Sierras abruptly rising eight thousand feet above the valley floor, fronted by the glorious granite of the high desert's Alabama Hills; Mono Lakes dramatic tufa towers at twilight; and a stormy sky over the unusually green Superstition mountains, draped in color from the winter rains.
